Sony offers a wide array of choices when it comes to a smart TV. Among its impressive products is the X800H that delivers a handful of features. The Sony X800H is armed with advanced technology such as Amazon’s Alexa and Apple AirPlay, not to mention it is equipped with a smart remote to give easier control to other devices.

The X800H is a modern smart TV to complement modern homes. Thanks to its slim and sleek design that adds visual interest to any given space. The entry-level Ultra HD TV also boasts a richer sound that surrounds you. But wait! While it’s too soon to bring a verdict, take a closer look at the following review. I’m going to be honest so you can easily decide if this device suits you best.

Sony X800H Design: How Does It Look Like?

From the appearance, the X800H is much like other modern smart TVs with a slim and sleek design. It has a narrow black bezel that gives a wider screen to make your TV time more engaging. It also keeps you focused on the screen, not the TV. Simplicity becomes the key point to make the device a compliment in your living rooms, bedrooms, or entertainment rooms.

Sony X800H Design

The 4K Ultra HD TV is constructed from black plastic with a matte finish. Its plain surface does not give too much added to the interior. Moving to the side, the upper part of the device looks ultra slim as it only has a screen panel. But I noticed a thicker panel that stretches from one side to another in the lower part.

Sony’s X800H is equipped with double stands to make sure the TV sits steadily on the table. The boomerang-shaped stands are slight but they are strong enough to hold the load. The smallest size weighs around 21.6 pounds while the largest size weighs around 100 pounds with stands.

Sony offers 6 different sizes that range from 43-inch up to 85-inch. The price also varies depending on the size, starting from $700 for the smallest one. There’s no significant difference in features among each size.

Beautiful Color, Contrast, and Clarity

The Sony X800H is an entry-level 4K UHD TV that boasts top features to improve your TV time experience. LCD displays with 3840 x 2160 pixels resolution combined with High Dynamic Range (HDR) offer high-quality pictures for any moment. It is powered by Sony’s X1 4K HDR processor that gives stunning 4K images on your screen.

The X800H is equipped with 4K X-Reality Pro for improved clarity, combined with Live Color Technology and Triluminos Display color enhancement. For enhanced contrast, this smart TV is armed with Dynamic contrast enhancer and Object-based HDR remaster. You can also experience clear and smooth pictures, thanks to Motionflow XR240 as a motion enhancer.

The X800H allows you to change picture modes according to your mood or running programs. It supports an array of modes such as cinema, graphics, game, custom, Dolby Vision bright and dark, and standard. Now you can enjoy every moment at its best.

Enjoy Sounds That Surround You

Amazing picture quality is never enough. It should give superb audio quality for games, movies, sports, or others. Thankfully, the X800H manages to deliver multi-dimensional sound without sacrificing its quality and clarity. Get the different feeling of surrounded by clear and high-quality sound, thanks to Dolby Atmos that makes the sound flow around you.

Sony’s X800H also features an X-balanced speaker that boasts its new, unique shape to keep the design slim. This speaker is specifically designed to support audio quality without making the TV look bulky. However, X-balanced speakers are only available on the 55-inch TV and larger.

Smart Technology to Enjoy Easier Life

Smart TV should give you something more. The X800H 4K smart LCD TV enables you to access a variety of services, content, and pair with other devices. Just ask anything you want to Alexa and let her find your favorite channel. It also allows you to control the TV such as turn on/off, control volume, and change channels.

Aside from Alexa, the X800H supports Google Assistant as your favorite voice service. It helps you connect with other devices, including smart appliances and security cameras. Enjoy your hands-free life and your voice take control.

Which platform do you like to watch? Just mention it and let Sony TV find it for you. The smart TV supports YouTube, Netflix, Google Play Movies & TV, as well as Prime Video. Amazingly, it also supports more than 5,000 apps for ultimate entertainment.

I also adore its capability to work with Apple AirPlay or Apple HomeKit. This feature enables you to stream audio and video from the TV right from your Mac, iPhone, or iPad. In addition, you can share photos with friends or family in the room.

Sony X800H Ports and Connectivity

For your best experience, Sony’s X800H features standard wireless connectivity that includes Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2. Besides, you can also connect the TV with other devices as it provides an array of ports such as Ethernet and HDMI ports. With 4 HDMI ports, build reliable connections with any compatible devices.

The Sony X800H 4K UHD smart TV is launched as an entry-level but its features are beyond expectation. Advanced screen technology and convenience are wrapped in a beautiful design to improve any given room. And yet, Sony does not make it perfect. The X800H still has a few drawbacks that should be taken into consideration. Scroll through the pros and cons below!

Sony X800H Pros

  • Beautiful and vivid pictures

Sony’s X800H presents real entertainment in your house. The combination of 4K ultra HD and HDR display offers beautiful pictures with vivid color. Featuring X-Reality Pro, this is a TV to give you real-life pictures with amazing details and contrast. For an entry-level, I think Sony’s picture quality is outstanding.

  • Superb audio quality

Not only does the X800H present an excellent picture but it also pampers you with superb audio quality. Thanks to the collaboration of Dolby Atmos and X-balanced speakers that result in clear, multidimensional sound. You can feel the sound that flows around you while enjoying favorite programs.

  • Wide choices for apps

This is a smart TV that won’t make you bored. The X800H offers more than 5,000 apps to enjoy, so you can choose one to make your days more entertaining. It also allows you to choose a variety of video streaming platforms such as Netflix and YouTube.

Sony X800H Cons

  • Lack of subwoofer output

Do you plan to connect the TV with a subwoofer? The X800H may disappoint you as it does not support additional subwoofer with the absence of its port. But if you are satisfied with its built-in speakers and audio technology, the X800H can be an option.

  • Absence of viewing angle

While most 4K UHD smart TV features X-wide angle, Sony was apparently not interested to embed this feature in the X800H. I couldn’t find a viewing angle feature in its smallest to the largest size. It means you shouldn’t expect a wide viewing angle from this Sony TV.

Bottom Line

In short, the Sony X800H is a great TV that combines sophisticated technology and refined design. Available at a reasonable price, this device can make your life more entertaining. Providing excellent picture quality and multidimensional sound, it elevates your TV watching experience. Even though it lacks a viewing angle and subwoofer output, the X800H can be a good bet for your family.
